Spiders and bats are often seen as Halloween mascots, but did you know that bats are not necessarily blood-sucking? Many bat species eat fruit or insects and can look quite cute with their proud voices and big ears.
Spiders aren't always scary; they have shiny eyes and smooth fur, and some come in various colors. Their behavior can be lively and bouncy.
In this series of three workshops, we will explore the adorable aspects of Hong Kong's spider and bat ecology (with DIY flower frogs 🕷️ and bat decorations, plus ecological videos). Participants will create spiders or bats using fuzzy sticks and eco-friendly kitchen towels, learning about their body structures in the process.
At the end, there will be a lucky draw for quirky DIY gifts, and each participant will receive 2 fun ecological flash cards and a poster as a keepsake.
We hope to break the public's misconceptions and fears about spiders and bats through these workshops.
