Romer String Quartet, one of Hong Kong’s most versatile quartets, presents the world premiere of local composer Kai-Young Chan’s à la recherche de la lune that draws on renowned French classical music composer Debussy’s poetic piano piece, Clair de Lune, and the traditional Cantonese folk tune jyut gwong gwong (Bright Moonlight), displaying the ‘moon’ through a fusion of cultures. The Quartet will also perform Debussy’s only string quartet work, as well as Eric C.H. Yips Debussy-inspired Shade in Darkness with a somber atmosphere permeating during the search for light and hope.
