Over the past few months, HASS Lab has been conducting an experimental project titled “Boredom is a Door to the Heart” in four different schools in Hong Kong. We observed students’ distracting behaviours, aiming to understand how students overcome the repetitive classroom order. We recorded these various creative responses and integrated them into a “Distraction Database”. Based on the findings, artists involved in the project transformed these “behavioral problems” into different methods of artistic creation.
Similar to what we have done in various schools, the content of these two pre-festival workshops is derived from the “Distraction Database”. We aim to demonstrate how art can transform “problems” into creative experiences, and the potential to apply such transformations in our daily life.
These workshops are the pre-festival activities for the upcoming HASS FEST 2024: Boredism. More details about the festival will be announced soon.
